2:15 And having spoiled the principalities and powers - The evil angels, of their usurped dominion. He - God the Father. Exposed them openly - Before all the hosts of hell and heaven. Triumphing over them in or by him - By Christ. Thus the paragraph begins with Christ, goes on with him, and ends with him.

Col 2:15 [And] having spoiled principalities and powers. "Having put off from himself the principalities and powers" (Revised Version). Christ overcame and disarmed the spirits of darkness, the evil angels. He triumphed over Satan and all his powers. He made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Put them to an open shame by triumphing over them in his resurrection and ascension.
