28But let a man examine himselfe, and so let him eate of that bread, and drinke of that cup. 29For hee that eateth and drinketh vnworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himselfe, not discerning the Lords body. 30For this cause many are weake and sickly among you, and many sleepe. 31For if we would iudge our selues, we should not be iudged. 32But when we are iudged, we are chastened of the Lord, that wee should not be condemned with the world.

1Co 11:30 For this cause, many [are] weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. Some have held that this means that the improper observance of the supper has made many weak and sickly Christians, and some had even died spiritually. Others hold that physical judgments had been sent, and some sickened and others died. The last view is most generally held.
